NIH Cloud Platform Interoperability Workshop
The NIH Cloud Platform Interoperability (NCPI) program held its Fall workshop in late September 2025. This cross-NIH partnership aims to develop and implement standards to facilitate data analysis across NIH repositories and cloud-based platforms. The CRDC has been part of the NCPI since its inception.
One of NCPI’s main initiatives is the development of a single NIH secure sign-on, designed to simplify access to all NIH data. Another primary focus is establishing consistent security standards for controlled-access datasets containing sensitive, personally identifiable information (PII).
Tanja Davidsen, PhD, Chief of the Data Ecosystems Branch leading the development of the CRDC, highlighted ongoing progress towards these goals during a panel discussion. As she said, “The Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) has devoted a great deal of work to building a robust, secure data environment, and is working across NCI divisions, offices, and centers to host and share their controlled-access data. The CRDC’s work continues to guide broader data-sharing and security efforts across the NCI and NIH.”
