CRDC 2024 Fall Symposium - Oct 16 & 17 - Registration is Open
The Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) will hold its 2024 Fall Symposium on October 16th and 17th. This one-and-a-half-day event will highlight the CRDC’s 10th anniversary, its impact, and future plans. It is open to the public and can be attended in person or online.
October 16th – Joint Session with the NCI’s Office of Data Sharing

October 17th – CRDC Session: Celebrating 10 Years and Looking to the Future

Announcing the CRDC 2024 Fall Symposium Keynote Speaker
Amanda Borens is an independent data science consultant and the founder of Tesselate Data Consulting, with 25+ years working in the public and private sectors informed by her experience as a cancer patient. She will share her observations and recommendations based on working across large research consortia, and her thoughts about the importance of secure and rapid sharing of complex, large-scale, longitudinal data to improve treatment and outcomes.
Featured Speaker
Dr. Warren Kibbe, NCI’s Deputy Director for Data Science and Strategy, serves as a senior advisor to the NCI Director and provides strategic counsel to the Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) and for NCI’s data science strategy. Dr. Kibbe will walk through the evolution of the NCI’s cancer informatics efforts and how CRDC fits into the overarching NCI data science strategy and vision to address the developing needs of the cancer research community.
Event Logistics
The CRDC Fall Symposium will begin at 1 pm on October 16th, with a half-day collaboration session with the NCI Office of Data Sharing (ODS).The ODS-CRDC session will be held in the Masur Auditorium at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD.
Note: Those attending the morning session of the ODS Annual Data Sharing Symposium are welcome to join the CRDC-ODS session in the afternoon highlighting CRDC’s role in the NCI data-sharing lifecycle.
Day two of the CRDC 2024 Fall Symposium — October 17th — will be held in person at the NCI Shady Grove Campus (Seminar TE408) in Rockville, MD. This full day will include sessions illustrating how researchers have used CRDC data, NCI Cloud Resources, and publicly available analytical tools to advance cancer research.
The CRDC Symposium wraps up with a panel of NCI partners who were instrumental in the CRDC’s creation and evolution. The panel will look ahead to the next ten years and the CRDC's role in the rapidly changing research landscape.
