caNanoLab Data Is Live on the General Commons

caNanoLab

Cancer nanotechnology data from the caNanoLab are now available through the CRDC’s General Commons (GC). These data are publicly accessible for exploration, access, and reuse. This migration to the CRDC provides an opportunity for users to integrate them with other data types, such as genomics and imaging data that are also shared through the CRDC.

The caNanoLab data sharing portal was originally developed through a collaborative effort to expedite and validate the use of nanomaterials in biomedicine. Key collaborators include the NCI Center for Bioinformatics & Information Technology (CBIIT) with the NCI Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer (Alliance), which includes the NCI Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory (NCL).

Data contributors include Alliance collaborators, grantees, and applicants, who have shared data on nanomaterials from physicochemical, in vitro, and in vivo assays, as well as characterization data and research protocols. Additional data include experimental and literature-curated datasets from the NCL, Alliance, and the broader cancer nanotechnology community. This work continues to support one of the few long-standing cancer-focused nanotechnology databases in the world.

All caNanoLab data available through the GC have undergone review and validation prior to public release to ensure data quality. Users can search the data and build cohorts using faceted criteria such as material characterization, material specifications, research protocols, and DOIs to access files for further analysis.
